Fusion Testimonial:
I started taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu about 4 months ago
to compliment my
passion for Thai boxing. Like many enthusiasts, we are
all trying to be well rounded fighters, so I was very
excited to hear that Fusion Academy was teaching Brazilian
Jiu Jitsu within the Thai Institute.
Eddie Edmunds, a brown belt under Pedro Sauer, is very
passionate, and a very patient teacher, which makes learning
the art fun, and satisfying.
I'm looking forward to advancing in belts, and invite
all who are interested to try it out.
- Dave Matheson, Senior student at the Muay
Thai Institute

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a modern combat system of standing
and ground defense techniques utilizing rules of leverage. First
introduced into the United States as "Gracie Jiu-Jitsu"
by the Gracie family, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an ideal martial
art whose techniques prepare its students for situations which
demand simple and effective responses.
Yet, the greatest advantage found within Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the
emphasis that despite strength or size the utilization of principles
of leverage will assist them in defending against or defeating a larger
opponent. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques were refined and modernized
by Master Helio Gracie (Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) who weighed no more than
145 lbs!
The result: A comprehensive system of techniques that employ
leverage and body position irrespective of physical strength to successfully
oppose and overcome an assailant.
