Craig Lamanna teaches a very aggressive style of knife fighting.
"This is not just about cutting somebody up." In this
non-traditional knife class, Craig teaches you the steps to
take before using a knife, the use of a knife defensively, and
the legalities of carrying and using a knife.
In addition, you learn:
- How to read your environment
- How to read the body positioning of others
- How to use a knife proficiently
- How to defend against a knife, both with a knife and without.
- How to deploy your weapon and how to know when to deploy
- How to understand the psychology of knifers
Through intense sparring - both one-on-one and multiples-on-one --
this class will also teach you how to handle the high stress reaction
of encountering a knife.
We are teaching realistic street tactics of the American
knife. Our goal is to show people what really transpires
in an actual knife encounter, and what the outcomes are. We
get rid of all the misconceptions that are related to the blade
that people take to heart due to the media and movies. These
misconceptions are what will get you killed. Through extensive
research and personal experience we have developed a knife system
that teaches from the inside out. The training that is emphasized
is more mental than physical. We incorporate and emphasize the
fundamental steps involved before an actual knife altercation
ensues, and also what happens at the end of an altercation.
Stressed in the instruction are when, and why a knife is used,
and when it is justified to use a knife. The legalities and
mental aspects of being in a knife altercation are gone over
extensively. The primary concept we get across is the worst
thing that you can do is to be in a knife altercation. What
is emphasized is that if all criteria are met to legally deploy
a blade and have to use it, you use it as quickly as you can
with the main goal being to escape the immediate threat and
call the police.
My good friend Marc "Animal" MacYoung and I have
developed a system that will teach you all of what is essential
in understanding, and deciding if you want to be part of the
knife world. This system is the same system that we have
taught to law enforcement and military all over the world. This
system is also very applicable to the civilian world as well.
We do not advocate that one carries a blade, but if that is
the choice you have made, we want you to know exactly what is
involved with that choice. This means all the mental and legal
ramifications that come along with the knife.
We teach the psychology and pathology of the knifer so
as to have our students better understand what they will most
likely encounter. We want people to understand that it
is not as glorified as people think and that those who have
used a knife and continue to use a knife are very different
individuals. Obviously there are many different classifications
of those who carry a knife, such as Professionals, Punks,
Crazies, Civilians, and etc
People must be aware of
what is out there and how these people operate.
Within the true realm of knife work, one doesnt train
to fight; one trains to die. It is only when one can accept
and embrace death that one truly has a chance to live.
