Yoga is a complete workout for the body, mind and spirit which can lead to a healthier, more fulfilled and meaningful life. Many people are first drawn to yoga for the physical aspects, keeping the body fit, supple and comfortable to live in; others come seeking relief of a specific ailment or disease. Still others come looking for a deeper meaning to life. Whatever your reason may be, yoga is an instrument for you - giving you what you are looking for and so much more.
The practice of yoga seeks to bring balance and peace to the body, mind and spirit and to bring us closer to our true essence. Yoga combines all the movements that you need for physical health with breathing and meditation to ensure peace of mind and self-realization. Yoga is a tool for self control over the body & mind. Once you start to realize this self control, there is literally no limit to what your spirit can achieve!
It would be virtually impossible to list all the many benefits recieved from a regular yoga practice. In recent years, medical research has begun to pay closer attention to the effects of yoga.
The style of yoga I generally teach is Hatha which combines postures which bring the mind to withdraw from the outside world with controlled breathing and bringing thoughts inward, focusing on the breath as you move from one pose to the next letting the breath move you into the next pose. This leaves both body and mind at ease as you finish up the practice with a short meditation at the class ending.
A regular conscious yoga practice will leave you refreshed and revitalized!
